Blog Tour: Third Debt by Pepper Winters

She healed me. She broke me. I set her free. But we are in this together. We will end this together. The rules of this ancient game can’t be broken.”

Nila Weaver no longer recognises herself. She’s left her lover, her courage, and her promise. Two debts down. Too many to go.

Jethro Hawk no longer recognises himself. He’s embraced what he always ran from, and now faces punishment far greater than he feared.

It’s almost time. It’s demanding to be paid.

The Third Debt will be the ultimate test...
"My heart was left tagging along like a kite, its strings tied to Nila as she galloped
further away beneath the cloud-filled sky." - Jethro

This was such a highly anticipated read for me and it completely soared above all my expectations.  Pepper gives us the longest book in the series so far and I barely blinked as I inhaled every word on every page.  This was a thrilling read that left my heart pounding and a feeling of utter desolation lingering in my heart - yep it was freaking awesome!

At the end of the last book Nila was sent away from the Hawk estate and Jethro has failed to live up to the expectations set by not only his father but the Debt Inheritance itself.
There is no question that Jethro and Nila have very strong feelings for each other despite the debts that have to be paid.  Nila realises that she should hate this man who is at times icy cold and other times the most passionate man she has ever met.

'Jethro had been anything but gentle.  He'd whipped me, fucked me, and adored me
in his own dark way.' - Nila

Jethro is torn up over what he knows he has to do and want he really desires more than anything - Nila. He is finding it difficult to hide his true feelings even more now.  His destiny had been chosen by birthright, many generations before he was born and there is no choice for him.  Nila sees the good in him that he fails to see himself.

We see more of Jethro and Kes' close relationship and I have to say I kind of have a bit of crush on Kes that just seems to grow even more as his character is slowly revealed to us.  Cut and Daniel, urgh!  I wish they would just evaporate from the earth, cold heartless evil men!  We also meet Killian who I found really intriguing and slightly arousing all at once.
Speaking of arousement, there is a scene in this book that had me completely flushed and nudging my husband awake at 1.00am, so steaming hot my kindle screen was getting all fogged up!

This story kept me awake until the early hours of the morning and had me turned on one moment, angry the next, tearfully wanting to reach into the story to cuddle Jethro and yelling out loud completely desolate with grief.  This series will rip your heart apart and give all those wonderful feelings we love to get from an incredibly written story.  Nila pretty much sums up how I felt at the end of this book:

'I'm freaking.  I'm terrified.  I'm beyond exhilarated.'

I give this 5++++ stars!
'There is no more love.  Only war.  Hope is dead. Now, there is only death all around them.'

HOW HAD THIS happened?
Where did it all go so wrong?
Jethro was supposed to love me. I was supposed to love him.
Yet he’d given me over to his family. He’d bound the ropes, blindfolded my eyes, and gifted me to his kin.
“Know what time it is, Nila Weaver?” Daniel breathed in my ear.
I jerked away. The restraints around my body meant I couldn’t run, couldn’t fight; I couldn’t even see.
Oh, God.
Please don’t let them do this.
I wanted to scream for Jethro to save me. I wanted him to put an end to this and claim me once and for all. Didn’t our connection mean anything?
You know it’s all different now.
Ever since I’d returned to Hawksridge Hall, things had been different—horribly, horribly different.
The fire crackled in the billiards room where the Hawk men had been playing poker. The air was hot and muggy and laced with cognac fumes.
Tonight, I’d had plans to end whatever changed between Jethro and me forever.
But now…those plans had changed.
Kestrel ran his fingers over my collar. “Relax, little Weaver. It will all be over soon.”
Cut chuckled. “Yes, soon you can go to sleep and pretend none of this happened.”
My ears strained for one other voice. The voice of the man who controlled my heart even though he’d thrown it back in my face.
But only silence greeted me.
Daniel snickered, licking my cheek. “Time to pay, Weaver.”
Someone clapped and in a voice full of darkness and doom said, “It’s time for the Third Debt.”
