This is the first part of a series that will have you gripping your e-reader and compulsively turning the page until the end. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a dark read and Pepper is the queen of this genre.

There are a lot of people in this story that get introduced as we go along but the main two are Nila Weaver and Jethro Hawk.

Nila is an up and coming fashion designer who is finally beginning to reap the rewards of her success, making a name for herself. Her father and brother are her biggest fans and very protective of her.

Jethro has just turned 29 years old and been informed by his father about what his gift will be. Nila.

"I inherited her. I preyed on her. I owned her life and had the piece of paper to prove it. Nila Weaver. Mine. And my task... devour her." - Jethro

When Jethro meets Nila in person for the first time it is purely to collect on his debt. Nila is shocked that her father hands her over to willingly and has that gut feeling that something isn't quite right.

Everything that Nila holds dear is about to be taken away from her, for good. When she discovers why Jethro sought her out she is completely blown away.

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”
