Sometimes rules must be broken.

Sometimes your beliefs are challenged.

Other times... you just have to follow your heart.

For Marine Corps Sgt. Alex Cruz, the Corps' rules and regulations have served as a blueprint for how he should live his life. In his mind, the way to maintaining proper conduct and order relied heavily on the ability of the individual to follow orders without question. Alex was that individual.

Until...

Pfc. Cassie Bennett.

She is brand new to the Corps, looking to cement a place in the world for herself after breaking free from the oppressive life she's lived with her mother. Making it in the Corps is her way of showing her mother that she is more than she thinks she is, while also proving to herself she can survive one of life's biggest challenges.

Both Alex and Cassie are tested when an intensely strong attraction develops between them. They feel it, they want it, but one thing stands in their way... The Marine Corps order on Fraternizing. Their lust filled thoughts, their strong and aching cravings for one another, and their conflicted minds lead them on a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that neither can ignore, no matter how hard they try.

Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be broken, and careers will hang in the balance. Can Alex and Cassie keep their forbidden relationship a secret, or will they lose it all by Fraternizing?

Oh, where do even begin? This book was one that snagged my attention for the beginning. The sexual tension between Cassie and Alex was HOT! The continued build up of said sexual tension was even hotter. And when things finally, umm EXPLODED, it was down right scorching.

Alex is definitely the definition of an alpha male. He loves control in all aspects of his life, especially in the bedroom, or the desk, or the truck, or the beach..well you get the picture. And he is not one to take to being told no lightly. It felt like that factor was adding fuel to his physical attraction to Cassie. You know, the whole wanting what you can't have.

But as the story progresses, you begin to get a grasp on what the consequences of pursuing anything with Cassie really are and how bad the outcome could be. So, it would stand to reason his feelings for her would have to run deep. But is it worth risking everything for something that will end just as quickly as it begins?

I loved quite a few things about this book. The ending. Not so much. I will get to that shortly though. First, let me tell you a few things that made the book worth it for me.

*Dual POV's. We get to hear both Cassie and Alex's voice in this book.

*The military aspect. This was my first military book and I loved how the author made sure to explain things so us without the knowledge wouldn't be lost.

*The steam. OH-EM-GEE!! This smexy was off the charts, through the roof H-O-T-T HOTT! If you have read Ms. Brown's other books, you know she can write a sex scene that is smokin', but she definitely amped things up in this one!

*The flow of the story. Overall, I felt the story was written at a pace that kept me interested through out. There was a time or two I felt like it was dragging, but nothing that made me loose interest.

Okay, now we can talk about the elephant in the room, AKA the cliffhanger. I had seen some mixed reviews about the ending where some felt it was a major cliffy and others were okay with it. I am somewhere in the middle. It definitely will leave you hanging with some major questions unanswered. But it is not as bad as I have experienced in some other books. Would I have liked to get a resolution? Can I get a HELL YEAH?! But it is what it is and we are left waiting for the next book to see what happens next.

Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)

I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!

I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!
