Pre-Release Blog Tour Review & Giveaway: Playing With Her Heart by Lauren Blakely

PLAYING WITH HER HEART
By: Lauren Blakely
Release Date: August 20th

When you’re acting the role of a lifetime, how can you know if love is real—or all just a part of the show?

Twenty-three year old rising theatre star Jill McCormick has built a life out of pretending. Pretending she’s happy, pretending her long-distance crushes add up to something real, pretending she’s not haunted by the dark secret that shattered her world six years ago. Cast in her first Broadway show, she desperately needs to keep her façade intact, but that’s before she comes face to face with her devastating new boss…

Hot-shot director Davis Milo knows the first rule of directing: never fall for your leading lady. Captivated by Jill’s raw talent, he fights his feelings, but watching Jill on-stage with another man is more than his jealous streak can take. Keeping things professional isn’t an option. He wants all of her.

Soon the ingénue and her director are staying late in the empty theatre, their private rehearsals spiraling into new, forbidden territory. Caught up between fiction and reality, Jill struggles to find the truth in all their staged kisses. But how can she be sure that what she feels is real, and not a part of the play? And when two people spend their lives pretending, what happens after the final curtain falls?

There is one thing I am very certain of after finishing Playing With Her Heart....

Lauren Blakely has been holding out on us!

She has a sexy side and she has let it shine through in this book. How you ask? Two words....

Davis Milo.

If you look up alpha male in the dictionary, I have no doubt you would find a picture of Davis Milo. He is a man who knows what he wants and is not afraid to ask for it. And he dirty talked his way right into my heart. I loved every second spent with him, but my absolute hands down, panty melting moment happens around the 63% mark in this book. Here is a little taste...

"Touch yourself, " he commands. "I want you to come from your own hand."

"And how does it feel to have your fingers on your clit while I am right here next to you, and I can smell how turned on you are?"

Needless to say, Davis and Jill together were combustible! The first time they kiss will leave you breathlessly steamy. So, you can only imagine how hot it is once they get to the good stuff! Each encounter after will having you sticking your head in the freezer for a cool down!

But while the sexy aspect of this book is beyond amazing, that is not all this book is about. We are also finally given Jill's  story. I have to admit, while I love all the characters of this series, Jill is definitely by favorite. You quickly realize that she has been hiding behind a facade of happiness for a long time now. She has this armor that she wears when around anyone so that they can't see how truly broken she is inside. My heart hurt for her.

And Davis is not short on hang ups either. He has been hurt and betrayed in the past. How can they make this work when he doesn't date actresses and she is in love with someone else? Are either of them willing to compromise on what they want in order to get what they need?

You will DEFINITELY want to read this book to find out! And as with all the books in this series, there is NO CLIFF HANGER.

10 things Guys Should do on Dates

1. Pay. Sorry, but I’m old-fashioned. Especially, for a first date, I think the man should pay. It’s symbolic and it’s classy.
2. Open doors. ALL DOORS. Open the car door, open the door to the restaurant, kick open the door to the bedroom while she’s slung over your shoulder and you’re in the heat of passion and about to take her. ALL DOORS!
3. Compliment her. But be specific. Say how lovely she looks. How she has gorgeous hair. How the sweater compliments her eyes. But, you know, don’t say things like “I love your jeans so much I might want to borrow them when I go a cross-dressing party next weekend.”

4. Make her laugh. Let’s be honest - unless you look like Steve Boyd (or Jase Dean, or Jesse Pavelka, or David Gandy, etc etc.) and can get away with just being gorgeous, then laughter is the best foreplay. But hey, don’t make her laugh just to get her in bed. Make her laugh because humor is one trait that doesn’t go gray or flabby or thin over time. Humor lasts and can hold you together.

5. Listen to her. Be attentive, make eye contact, show her you care about what she’s saying.

6. Ask her questions. You’ll want to know, for instance, if you share the same preference for a favorite position. :) Or ask her questions about herself, better yet.
7. Set up the next date. Don’t leave her hanging. Let her know you want another one.

8. If the moment is right, kiss her. Because, you know, KISSING ROCKS!

9. Send her a text message that night after the date is over. So your name is the last one she sees on her phone before she goes to bed.

10. And if you’re married to this lady already, make sure you set up a sitter, and the kids are in bed, and then go treat your wife like the amazing woman she is!!
